You might think that it would be hard to get a 2-year-old boy to read anything except for picture books, but that’s not the case. With the right books, even a 2 year old can read! By choosing the right books, you can stir your toddler boy’s interest in books.
And fortunately, there are plenty of great books that can help you teach your little boy how to read on his own. I’m listing here four of the best books for a 2-year-old boy that you can get your hands on.

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt (Classic Board Books) is a classic story about one family’s wild adventures as they travel and encounter different landscapes that they have to go around or through or over.
The book, written by Helen Oxenbury and Michael Rosen, is 36 pages in length and uses a repetitious way to help your child remember words. It also has times in the book when it uses sounds or movements that you as the parent, can make hand motions for. This will help your child remember the word.
The Napping House is a classic story written by Audrey Wood. The story is about a house where everyone and every pet in the house is sound asleep. The 16 pages book delightfully illustrates the snoring granny and the sleeping child.
The story talks about the sleeping dog, the cat and the mouse. Everywhere your child looks, the characters are asleep. But one little thing isn’t asleep and that’s the flea.
When he takes a bite, it wakes the whole house. This funny story does a good job of creating an imaginative tale. The way that it’s written in a buildup rhyming way will allow your child to pick up new words and extend his vocabulary. The words are easy to understand even for a 2 year old.
Good Dog, Carl : A Classic Board Book was written by Alexandra Day. It’s a story told about a Rottweiler and the little girl that the dog happens to live with. The girl, who happens to be a baby, and the dog take off on adventures around the house the minute the mom tells the dog to watch out for the baby. Little boys will love reading about Carl.
The book is 40 pages in length and uses short words that are easy for a two year old to understand.
How Big Is a Pig? (Barefoot Board Book) is a tale written by Clare Beaton. The illustrations in the 24-paged book look like they were done in felt which makes the book’s pages really capture a child’s attention.
In the course of this story, the little piglet goes around to the other animals in his farmyard. Your child will read about birds, cows, insects and more as the piglet wanders around. The story uses repetitive sentences, which for kids at the age of 2 is one of the cornerstones of reading.
